Joint Selichot Service - Saturday evening, September 12 - At KBH

The late night Selichot service held on one of the Saturday nights immediately preceding Rosh Hashanah is considered the opening of the High Holy Day season. Every year, members of four area Conservative synagogues (Beth El, Kempsville Conservative, Temple Emanuel and Temple Israel) gather in one location to meet, pray, study and to begin what Judaism calls the Days of Awe.

This year’s Selichot program and service will be held at Kempsville Conservative Synagogue (KBH) on Saturday night, September 12. As usual, the rabbis and cantors involved with each of the participating synagogues will be involved in leading the service itself and in the program that precedes it. The service customarily begins at 11:00 p.m. and ends at midnight.

More details with directions, schedule and content, of the pre-Selichot programs and reception will be publicized in the days ahead.
